A Bit Of History
In March 2002 Richard Clarke MBIPDT (see below) and Michael Martin MBIPDT were approached by the President His Highness Sheikh Zayed Bin Al Nahyan and the military Police School of the United Arab Emirates via a civilian contractor to act as consultants and instructors of the UAE Public Order Unit.
By June, the new UAE Public Order Canine Section had been created and was running smoothly and effectively.
Our team has been able to offer the same high standard of service all over the world, including Sudan, Germany, Portugal, France, Poland, Canary Islands, UK, and Malta. With over forty years of Police, military, and private security training between us, you can be confident that any goal you set, be it for security, public order, specialist, or even tactical firearms dogs, can and will be met.
With extensive Hertfordshire training facilities and all the equipment and contacts necessary to provide everything from training equipment, through MBIPDT accredited training and examinations, to specialist consultation in many key areas, BMDTS Security Division will be able to help.
Richard Clarke, Chief Instructor
Richard joined the Royal Navy (AEM2) in 1988 and completed intial, advanced, and instructors dog training courses. In 1992 he became a Civilian Environmental Trainer for the Ministry Of Defense (RAF Chicksands, UK). He went on to train in specialist (Drugs, AES), and public order canine work. He also qualified as a Canine Behaviourist and Nutritionsit with The Animal Care College.
After the closure of the RAF Chicksands base, Clarke founded BMDTS and continued to consult and train in the operational GPD and specialist dog areas, contracted to Protec UK Ltd, Reliance Security Ltd, Rentokil Security Ltd, and K9 Services Ltd.
In 2001 Clarke ran Initial and Advanced GPD courses in France and Protugal, and then went on to UAE where he was the Tactics Instructor with the Military Police Public Order Canine Unit. In 2003 he was consultant to the Maltese Civilian Police Force (Specialist Dogs), and consultant to ICS Security (kennel management and training in Tenerife and Canary Islands). He continues to instruct and consult with various Security companies and has been uses the BMDTS training facility as a base for running BIPDT accredited security and specialist courses.
Initial, Intermediate & Advanced GPD Courses
The BMDTS Security Division's GPD (General Purpose Dog) courses and examinations are accredited by the British Institue Od Professional Dog Trainers (BIPDT), Security Division. For more information or specialist training enquiries, please contact us.
The GPD (General Purpose Dog) training courses are made up of a variety of modules that include basic obedience, agility, operational searches and tracking, man work, and theory.
